What percentage of total ZEC supply is sitting in shielded pools (Sprout + Sapling + Orchard + Ironwood), computed directly from the node's per-block pool balance data.
Read it as adoption of the shielded pools, NOT as how much ZEC is meaningfully private — those are different questions and this chart can only answer the first. A coin counts for the whole time it sits in a pool.
Take the common case: a coin is shielded on arrival from an exchange, then deshielded again shortly after. On-chain that is a shielded balance. But a deposit on one side and a withdrawal on the other can make the hop linkable to anyone watching both ends.
The share of supply is therefore an upper bound on privacy, not a measurement of it. Volume-based measures have the same limitation from the other direction, which is why this site shows the balance and states its limits rather than presenting one number as settling the question. The tooltip shows daily shielding/deshielding volume and net flow direction.
Shielded Tx Share was 55.77% on 2026-09-27, the last full day of data. That is 37.4% higher than 28 days ago, when it was 40.60%.

It is an upper bound on shielded value, not a measure of how much Zcash use is private. A coin can rest in a pool for years without a single private payment being made with it, and the figure would not move. Read it as capacity — how much of the supply is able to transact privately — rather than as activity.
The number also moves for reasons that are not adoption. A pool migration shifts value between pools without changing the total; a single large holder shielding or deshielding moves the percentage more than thousands of ordinary users would. For whether a given deshield is actually covered, the anonymity set is the honest number, and transaction types shows how much daily activity is shielded rather than how much value is parked.
