NU7 activated at block 3,543,405 on 6 November 2026. Its consensus changes, in plain terms:
| ZIP | What it does |
|---|---|
| 218 | Blocks every 25 seconds instead of 75. The reward per block is a third as big, and there are three times as many blocks to each halving, so ZEC per day and the halving dates did not change. It also caps shielded actions per block. |
| 235 | 60% of each block's fees leave circulation into the NSM. Miners get the other 40%. |
| 237 | The Network Sustainability Mechanism: a balance that is not part of the supply. From block 8,939,664 each block also pays out a small fixed share of it (1375 / 1010), so it is paid back out at the same half-life as the block reward. |
| 2003 | Version 4 transactions are no longer valid. Sprout can only be spent with them, so the ZEC left in Sprout can no longer move. |
| 207, 214, 2008 | Funding stream and development fund rules, updated for 25-second blocks. |
ZIP 233 (voluntary burns) and ZIP 234 (smoothed issuance) were not part of NU7.
The node does not report it, because the NSM is not part of the supply. But it does not need to be estimated. Every zatoshi the issuance schedule has created is either in circulation or in the NSM, so the balance is scheduled issuance up to the block, minus the node's chain supply at that block. That gives exactly the 368.58445520 ZEC seed at the block before NU7, to the zatoshi, and every fee removed since. Nothing here is counted from fee estimates.
