Since NU7 (block 3,543,405, 2026-11-06), 60% of every block’s transaction fees leave circulation into the Network Sustainability Mechanism (NSM), under Zcash Improvement Proposals 235 and 237.
Miners keep the other 40%. The NSM started with 368.58445520 ZEC, the subsidy and fees early coinbases never claimed, and from block 8,939,664 it starts paying a small share back out with each block. Top: ZEC removed since NU7, running total.
Bottom: ZEC removed each UTC day. The node does not report this balance, but it is exact, not estimated. Every zatoshi the issuance schedule has created is either in circulation or in the NSM. So the balance is scheduled issuance minus the node’s own chain supply at each block.
NSM Balance was 370.22 ZEC on 2026-11-07, the last full day of data.
